Being-Meaning is a community to share our journey for improved well-being, and in particular, our peace-making with existential being and search for meaning. Please join us to share arguably our most important lessons and support each other along the way.

My Story

I struggled with existential thoughts combined with obsessive compulsive disorder in my early adulthood: two years lost in total mental paralysis. I wasn’t aware of OCD and struggled on my own. Fortunately, I pulled myself out of the obsessive search for meaning and constant existential anxiety driven by the OCD doubts.

My mind was at peace for another 10 years. However, when I reached another stage where I closely questioned my priorities and motivations, the existential dread hit again, and even stronger. I’m once again consumed by questions around meaning and OCD doubts on literally everything.

Fortunately, my earlier experience and my loving family provide me a strong basis for recovery. It is not easy as the existential dread and OCD relentlessly question everything. I found it helpful to capture the moments of positive thinking, to share the journey with others, to hear different perspectives as well as to write to the future self.
